GOA: Sacred soil derived from the precincts of seven well-known temples across Goa will be used for the foundation of Ram temple at Ayodhya on August 5.
The decision to collect the sacred soil from Goa was taken by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). The initiative began on Thursday with chief minister Pramod Sawant along with VHP representatives collecting the sacred soil at Rudreshwar temple in Harvalem.
“We have not selected temples, but decided to collect soil within a short span from seven temples across Goa,” he said. Soon after the ceremony got over, CM Sawant Tweeted: “It is a moment of proud privilege that the sacred soil from the auspicious Rudreshwar temple Harvalem, Sankhali, will be used in the foundation of the Ram Mandir at Ayodhya! I offered my prayers at the Rudreshwar temple today. Jai Shree Ram!”
