GOA: A total of 432 new Covid cases were reported over the past 24 hours taking the cumulative Covid cases to 36, 670. Nine more persons six men and three women died taking the Covid death toll to 478. Three of them died within 10 hours of admission.
Two of the deceased, both women, were young, aged 48 and 43 from Betalbatim and Vasco, respectively. One was reported to have hypertension with cancer to bone, lungs and liver while the other did not have any comorbidities but developed ARDS and Covid pneumonia and died within 45 minutes of being admitted. The other deceased include a 75-year-old man from Raia, a 60-year-old woman from Ponda, 65-year-old man from Curchorem, 52-year-old man from Bardez, 74-year-old from North Goa and a 61-year-old man from Betim-Reis Magos.
Five of the deaths took place at GMC, three at ESI and one at a private hospital in North Goa. Although there are many recoveries, former president of IMA and chest physician Dr Anil Mehndiratta said one must be cautious and not take Covid lightly. “Covid is affecting everyone young, old, fit and even athletes, no one is spared. The outcome is unpredictable with Covid,” he said.
