GOA: Antigen testing began full fledged at Goa airport. The 307 passengers who arrived on domestic flights on Wednesday, 78 opted for testing. The rapid antigen test has replaced the RT-PCR test at the airport and provides passengers with results on the spot, reducing their wait and the burden on labs that already have a backlog of 5,000 samples, state epidemiologist Dr Utkarsh Betodkar said.
“Today, they have started antigen testing. It shall be expeditious,” Goa airport director Gagan Malik said. Chief minister Pramod Sawant said last week that antigen testing would be carried out on all travellers entering the state instead of NAT/RT-PCR tests as it gives quick result he said.
