Candolim have started offering boat rides

GOA: With tourist footfalls yet to pick up, only a few water sports operators in Candolim have started offering boat rides. Those in the Calangute-Candolim tourism hub, at Sinquerim, Calangute and Baga are yet to start, even though the state government had permitted water sports activities from October 15. “We’re ready to start, but where are the tourists?” a water sports operator at the Sinquerim jetty said, summing up the situation.

“They have stopped tourists coming to the Sinquerim beach from parking near the Fort Aguada resort, so how will we get customers?” Savio D’Souza, a water sports operator at Sinquerim beach, said. “We can only expect people staying in resorts, but right now there are hardly any tourists. We will start once the situation improves.” Only dolphin boat trips will operate from the Sinquerim jetty this season and they are likely to start from Sunday, D’Souza said. There will be no Grande Island and scuba diving or snorkelling trips, he added.
