Goa: The Gawda, Kunbi, Velip and Dhangar (Gakuved) federation held a protest at the water resources department’s (WRD) office at Rawanfond, Margao on Monday and also submitted a memorandum to WRD minister Filipe Neri Rodrigues condemning the suspension of six WRD staff in the obscene video shoot episode at Chapoli dam involving actor Poonam Pandey .The federation has demanded that the suspension be revoked. Copies of the memorandum, signed by Gakuved’s general secretary Rupesh Velip, have been submitted to the chief minister’s office and also to the deputy speaker and Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes.
Velip said that the six staffers belonging to scheduled tribes (ST) community have been suspended for no fault of theirs as the video was shot early in the morning while the workers were yet to begin duty. While alleging that the government has made these workers scapegoats, Velip demanded that action should be initiated against the engineers in-charge of the Chapoli dam.
