After a Jail guard at colvale central jail tested positive for Covid-19 on Wednesday, staffers who served with him on Sunday were sent for testing to the North Goa district hospital in Mapusa.
“The jail guard from Vaddem, Vasco, likely got the infection from his family. His brother and sister-in-law tested positive two days ago, after which he was tested and the result was received on Wednesday”.
He also said that there was no negligence on the part of prison authorities in taking precautions for containment in the jail premises. Another jail official said that a month ago, the entire jail premises was sanitised through the fire department. “All staff as well as prisoners have been instructed to follow social distancing measures. Hand sanitiser dispensers are installed within the jail,” he said.
