GOA: Continuing to keep the pressure on the state BJP government, Congress demanded a high-level probe into organiser of the drug-fuelled party Kapil Jhaverri’s political connections. The Tirumalla Tirupati Multistate Co-operative Credit Society Ltd, where arrested actor Jhaverri is a director, opened ten branches in Goa during the BJP regime, Congress said on Wednesday, accusing BJP of having vested interests in the entity.
“It is only because of the vested interest of the BJP leaders that the credit society was allowed to open ten branches in Goa,” said state Congress general secretary Amarnath Panjikar. Congress asked BJP to explain why permissions were granted to the Tirumalla Tirupati credit society. “We also demand that a high level judicial inquiry should be ordered into the alleged connections of all the politicians whose photographs have appeared with Jhaveri. Let the truth prevail,” said Panjikar.
