Congress made its 5th appeal

GOA: Congress made its fifth appeal seeking urgent listing of the disqualification petition against rebel Congress and MGP MLAs before the Supreme Court. Congress stated to the Supreme Court registrar that while the court had ordered for the hearing to be held after two weeks, more than seven weeks have passed.

Congress stated that there are grounds for urgency as the disqualification petition before Goa speaker Rajesh Patnekar has been pending for over a year and the delay is in direct violation of earlier Supreme Court judgments.

“Since the main issue in the writ petition itself concerns inordinate delay by the respondent any additional delay in listing the matter, despite specific directions of the Supreme Court to list the same will irreversibly prejudice the petitioner’s case,” Congress advocate Sahil Tagotra said.
