GOA: The Covid designated ponda sub-district hospital has been filled to capacity following the sudden spurt in positive cases during past couple of days. “We won’t be able to make new admissions and the patients will have to be admitted to either the ESI-Covid hospital in Margao or Goa Medical College,” medical superintendent at the hospital, Dr Vikas Kuwelkar said.
Though the sub-district hospital had been converted to a full-fledged Covid facility for ante natal and post natal cases, the sudden rise in cases had recently forced the authorities to allow other Covid patients to be admitted here as well. Kuwelkar said that they had 40 cases with comorbidity, including 26 men in their medicine wards and 40 women with around 15 newborns in ante natal cases (ANC) wards, by Wednesday evening. The remaining five slots are for new borns.
