GOA: Drishti Lifeguarding agency has reported five drowning deaths in the past six months. During the period from January to August 4, the agency attended to 71 rescues, with 24 incidents reported from Baga beach. Also, six cases were linked to suicide attempts, with alert lifeguards successfully assisting four persons who intended self-harm by running into the sea, Drishti stated.
Drishti stated Harizan overheard the family arguing loudly behind the lifeguard watchtower. Sensing trouble, he had kept a watch on them. A few moments later, the girl ran into the water. Harizan immediately pursued the girl and rescued her before she could be swept away by the rough sea. She was later handed over to Colva police, a Drishti official said.
