GMC blood bank conducted health check up camp at Mapusa

GOA: A team from the Goa Medical College’s (GMC) blood bank conducted a health check up camp at  Mapusa for plasma screening of Covid-19 patients who had recovered. Most of those who attended the camp at Mapusa Residency, Mapusa, were residents of Saligao and Guirim.

In all, 38 people attended the health check-up camp and the samples collected will be screening for donation of plasma. Organised by Bardez deputy collector Akshay Potekar, in collaboration with GMC’s blood bank, the camp was inaugurated by joint mamlatdar Sandeep Gawde.

“After patients recover from Covid-19, plasma has to be collected from them within 28 days. Only those volunteers found fit will be were permitted to donate plasma, which will then be given to Covid patients. We have tried to convince the patients about the importance to come forward and donate plasma,” said Ravishankar Nipanikar from the deputy collector’s office, who was the coordinator of the health camp.
