GOA: A day after Goa reported its biggest single-day spike in covid-19 mortalities, chief minister Pramod sawanth held a video conference with health officials, heads of Covid hospitals, district collectors and deputy collectors in a bid to understand if the government machinery has committed any lapses. “Reducing Covid mortality is the joint responsibility of citizens and the doctors,” Sawant said in reference to patients being brought dead to hospital, or being admitted too late after developing symptoms.
Goa’s covid-19 mortality count has increased steeply this month, with 25 deaths reported over the past two days alone. The government has repeatedly appealed to people to get tested immediately if they experience symptoms such as fever and body ache. Despite the government’s claim that it is doing its best including offering to treat high-risk patients at the GMC since last month the state is yet to see an effective dip in Covid mortalities.
