Goa: Goa Tourism is exploring the option of acquiring a tract of comunidade land in North Goa and roping in a private player to develop it with basic facilities for mega events, including electronic dance music (EDM) festivals. The move is aimed at doing away with the difficulties organisers face in the run-up to planning big-ticket events in the state, while also reducing the burden on security providers who are stretched thin during peak tourism season, when such events are usually held.
A senior tourism official said if the plan materialises, it would reduce the hassle of obtaining several permissions and a no-objection certificate for temporary land use from a local body. “The biggest hurdle that organisers of mega events face is finding land and subsequently engaging with the local authorities in obtaining various permissions,” the official said.
