Heavy Rainfall at Isolated Places from July 10 to 13

GOA: The incessant rain that lashed the state on Thursday led to the swelling of the Mandovi. It triggered inundation along the 18th June Road in Panaji besides other streets of the city. Businessmen operating from the ground floor along the road struggled to move their goods to a higher level to prevent them from getting soaked.

“Fifteen people were deployed to keep an eye on manholes and ensure that blockages caused due to plastic accumulation are cleared,” Panaji mayor Uday Madkaikar said.

The control room of the fire and emergency services received three calls for flood rescue after rainwater entered the homes in Bicholim. They also received 20 calls between 7am and 7pm for trees fallen on roads and power lines.

The IMD has forecast the likelihood of  heavy rainfall at isolated places over Goa from July 10 to 13.
