GOA: Migrant workers employed aboard fishing vessels will have to produce Covid negative certificates before resuming work, the fisheries department said. Also, once they resume, they will have to undergo quarantine after arriving in Goa.
“The workers will be permitted aboard the vessel only if they have a Covid negative certificate. As far as the quarantine facilities of the workers are concerned, the boat owners will have to shoulder this responsibility,” deputy director of fisheries, Chandrakant Velip said.
The fisheries department had met with chief minister Pramod Sawant and appealed to him to deploy police personnel at fishing jetties to ensure SOPs laid down during the pandemic are followed. “The SOPs were put in place earlier. Our appeal is only for the fishermen to follow the same,” Velip said.
