GOA: Hordes of migrants crowded Vasco and Margao railway stations Wednesday evening to board the weekly Vasco-Patna express train to get back to their native homes following a lockdown-like situation in Goa.
A similar scene was witnessed at these stations last Wednesday as over a thousand passengers had boarded the Bihar-bound train. Following the government’s announcement of a four-day lockdown, Bihari migrants had rushed to Vasco and Margao railway stations to board the first available train to return to their native places.
On Wednesday, railway police had a hard time in regulating the crowds and enforcing Covid-appropriate behaviour by the passengers. Though passengers with reserved tickets only are allowed to board the “special trains” that are currently in operation, several of the migrants who had queued up at the station didn’t have reserved tickets.
