GOA: With mounting criticism to some major projects being proposed by the government, BJP put up a brave front, pointing out that these were being taken up in the interest of the state.
Three major projects railway double tracking, laying of a power transmission line and highway expansion proposed at Mollem in the Bhagvan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary and Mollem National Park have seen opposition.
“Goa doesn’t generate power because ours is a small state. If a thermal power project is set up here, then we will face more damage,” he said. “If we want to get our share of power from Andhra Pradesh, a transmission line is needed. The state’s power requirement increases by 5-6% annually,” he added.
