Goa: The 182-bedded Mormugoa port test (MPT) hospital, which was functioning as a Covid care center at Sada and had been vacant for three days, has now been asked to gear up to admit patients from other talukas as well. With new admissions beginning from Wednesday, two patients have already been admitted to the centre.
Mormugao deputy collector Sachin Desai said, “The MPT Covid care center was 100% vacant after the hospital discharged the last batch of 18 patients on Sunday. We had kept the care centre in reserve although it was completely vacant. Now we have been asked to gear up to accept new admissions from anywhere in the state and we are fully ready.”
It may be recalled that after the spike in Covid-19 cases, the MPT-run hospital was converted into a Covid care centre in June-end. It initially began with 160 beds but with the number of cases increasing, the beds were increased.
