Three doctors engaged in the battle against Covid-19, including two posted at the ESI hospital in Margao, on Tuesday tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The third doctor was posted at the sub-district hospital, Ponda. As cases continued to rise, the capacity of the 220-bed ESI hospital is now filled to capacity.
Rane also said that a team of doctors from Goa will be sent to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS), New Delhi, for training in plasma therapy. Last week, Rane had revealed his plan to introduce the therapy in the state, pending approval by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). A vast majority of cases in the state are asymptomatic.
Rane said an awareness campaign will be conducted in Pernem explaining to the people the importance of using masks and to discourage public spitting. Shopkeepers, too, will be educated on social distancing norms. “Our aim is to move forward proactively and ensure that the guidelines are implemented strictly, to curb the spread of the virus,” he said.
