GOA: The public works department (PWD) finally started cutting the boulder that came crashing down on a house at Vadeem, Vasco, on September 21, killing a 65-year-old woman, Anita Borkar . However, locals are upset that it took the authorities more than a week to start work on clearing the boulder. The rock had got detached from the hillock.
Shrijeet Kavlekar, who lives in Vaddem, said, “It took eight days for the authorities to send two labourers to cut the boulder. This shows the speed at which the disaster management cell functions. More boulders are stuck midway and may come down any time. Before a similar incident occurs the authorities should have immediately started working on precautionary measures.”
