GOA: Rainfall exceeding 11.5 cm in 24 hours is very likely over north and south Goa from October 13 to 15. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had forecasted an increase in rainfall activity over the state from October 12 onwards. This has been attributed to a depression over the Bay of Bengal and a trough in the Arabian Sea. As a result, very heavy rainfall is likely over the state till October 15. Wind with speeds reaching 30-40kmph is also likely over both districts during this period, IMD has warned.
Continued rainfall of more than 12cm can affect the areas vulnerable for weather related disasters in the form of localised water logging/flooding, swelling of rivers, mudslides, rock falls etc. The meteorological department has, therefore, called for the vulnerable areas to be monitored.
