GOA: After Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education officially announced on Monday that it is curtailing the syllabus from Class IX to XII by 28% to 30%, officials of State Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) said they are working in the same direction for the syllabus for lower classes.
“We are also thinking in this direction (as the Goa Board). But instead of reduction of portion in the syllabus, we will identify for schools the thrust areas on which they need to necessarily focus. We will give them the important topics and concepts,” said SCERT director Nagaraj Honnekeri.
The rising Covid-19 cases in Goa have meant that reopening of schools may not be possible in August. “At present too, schools are not taking up everything while teaching (during online classes). The directions identifying the important topics that have to be focused on will be issued to schools. This will come only when the schools reopen,” said Honnekeri.
