GOA: The new South Goa district hospital began functioning as a Covid hospital following health minister Vishwajit Rane’s visit to the facility. The hospital currently has 150 beds equally divided between male and female wards, and the capacity will be enhanced in the course of time.
In the presence of GMC dean Dr Shivanand Bandekar, Rane told media persons that mild to moderate Covid patients will be admitted to the new district hospital. “Those patients undergoing treatment in the ESI hospital, who have come to step down stage will also be shifted to the new hospital,” Bandekar said.
Step down patients are those who have significantly recovered and their health condition is observed to be stable, it was informed. Around 10 step down patients who were undergoing treatment at the ESI-Covid hospital were shifted to the new district hospital by late Saturday evening.
