GOA: The state government had launched a survey a while back to gauge the availability of internet connectivity and smartphones among school students across Goa. The outcome of the survey when it comes to students of government schools is not too heartening.
Another 7% or the 2600-odd students from the primary to the higher secondary level only have access to a radio. There was feedback over the last couple of months on issues including unavailability of smartphones and internet connectivity among students.
The survey shows that 36,462 students are studying in government schools from Class I to XII and of these 50% have access to the best of internet and smartphone facilities. More than 18,300 of these have a smart device with 4G internet connection and they additionally also have a television with DTH or cable connection.
