Goa : Tejan Chodankar from Bicholim used to regularly cycle during the lockdown hoping he’d ride for fitness. He did ride around 10-15 km every day, for a couple of months, until he joined work again and his schedule got hectic. “I started cycling to lose weight, but couldn’t carry on due to work. Now because of the lockdown, I get to ride consistently,” he told us in May. Now, he only goes on occasional weekend rides with his friends.
“We would ride several kilometres almost every day or on alternate days, but since office resumed, I don’t get the time. The last time I went on a ride was November 25. My friends have also got busy, though a few still ride daily,” he says. Many like him, who got into cycling during the lockdown, have discontinued since then. What happened to the cycle? “It’s at home, I take it on occasional rides,” says Tejan. Nitesh Shirodkar, from Baga, who used to cycle long distances has stopped too.
